Qualifications


Job Summary



 


 Responsible for managing, planning, coordinating and developing the overall operation of Environmental Services in a designated location, establishing policies and procedures, objectives and work standards to maintain hospital facilities in a clean, sanitary and attractive condition and in accordance with CHI values and expectations.



 


Key Responsibilities




  • Directs supervisors and staff by interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, rewarding and managing the performance of the Environmental Services employees. Types of roles supervised include Supervisor of EVS; Team Leader of EVS; Environmental Services Tech; Environmental Services Associate.




  • Responsible for planning and establishing policies and procedures for Environmental Services, generally in two or more locations, or a complex single location (due to specialty, facility size, or other unique factors).  Reviews policies periodically to make improvements and increase operating efficiency. 




  • Is responsible for the employee competency and associated training programs necessary to operate the department according to The Joint Commission and OSHA regulations.




  • Oversees that the maintenance of the equipment is performed according to manufacturer’s specifications.





 


Job Requirements/Qualifications



 


Education




  • HS Diploma or GED Required.




  • College Degree preferred.




  • Candidates may present a combination of Education and Experience to satisfy the educational requirements.





 


Experience




  • At least 3 years of experience, with a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in hospital janitorial,




  • environmental services or maintenance. 



  • Prior lead, supervisory or management experience preferred.



  • N.F.P.A., O.S.H.A., Joint Commission requirements, policy and procedure development and implementation preferred.




  • Association for the Healthcare Environment (AHE) certification required within 3 years of assignment or adoption of requirement.
