CHI St. Alexius Health officially announced the formation of its regional health care system on April 19, 2016. The system is the largest health care delivery system in central and western North Dakota and is comprised of a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, and critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services. CHI St. Alexius Health manages five CAHs in North Dakota - Ashley, Elgin, Linton, and Wishek, as well as Mobridge Regional Medical Center in Mobridge, S.D. 

Responsibilities

Phlebotomist
  
Not many patients get excited about blood work. That’s a fact. Knowing this, we make sure we have best Phlebotomists on our team to provide the highest level of patient care. We hire Phlebotomists who not only have the proper training and education to get the job done, but also have a special skill of putting our patients at ease when blood work is ordered. What you’ll do:
  • Obtains blood specimens by capillary puncture or venipuncture using appropriate technique
  • Correctly identifies patient per written protocol and properly labels specimens accurately and completely, while maintaining the integrity of the specimen in relation to the test being performed
  • Disposes of contaminated lab supplies and handles all lab specimens regarding potential health hazards according to written procedures
  • Receives laboratory specimens, orders tests, processes specimens using the centrifuge and distributes specimens to appropriate testing areas communicating special instructions
  • Performs clerical duties as required

Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Preferred:  Phlebotomy certification or completion of a phlebotomy course
  • Preferred: Six months previous phlebotomy experience, science background, customer service experience
