Director of Obstetrics

CHI Saint Joseph London, now part of CommonSpirit Health, is expanding and renovating their Birthing Center to bring high-level infant care to families in southeastern Kentucky. We are ready to hire an experienced Director of Obstetrics to support the success of this important expansion.

OB RNs and NICU Nurses understand every birth is different, even when the process is considered routine. In London, KY, babies born with specialized needs were previously transported more than an hour away from the hospital and their mothers to a NICU for care and treatment. 

As the OB Nursing Director, you will lead Saint Joseph London’s new Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which includes six (6) private intensive care rooms to promote family-centered care for newborns, mothers, and family members. Each room contains necessary equipment and supplies to serve babies born prematurely or with special needs.

With future construction beginning in 2021, we still hope to fill this leadership opportunity quickly so you have sufficient time to connect with key leaders, get familiar with our organization, and participate in decisions.

Leadership:

Obstetrics (OB) and Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) Nursing

• Serve as a connection point between healthcare professionals, patients and resources
• Establish, implement, and track departmental goals with relevant and realistic benchmarks
• Monitor quality care provided by RNs and other healthcare team members
• Allow positive outcomes and data to drive clinical strategy
• Serve as mentor to clinical staff by providing coaching to promote career growth and enhanced nursing skills
• Establish a positive environment for patients and caregiver

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
• Active Registered Nurse License in Kentucky or license with multi-state eNLC privilege
• Five (5) years of experience in a nursing leadership role with clinical and operational responsibilities
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Neonatal Life Support (NLS)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Nursing
• Nursing experience in a Level II NICU
• Experience leading an obstetrical service line
• Inpatient Obstetric Nursing Certification (RNC-OB)
