Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director of Laboratory Services and Medical Director, the Medical Technologist II, is responsible for performing complex laboratory testing on specimens to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Accurately processes, analyzes and reports all tests ordered in a timely manner to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Responsible for proper maintenance of equipment, accreditation, and Departmental Performance Improvement. Responsible for organizing work load as assigned. Displays professional, safe conduct in all interactions. Maintains positive working relationships with staff, other departments, physicians and peers. Displays conduct in support of CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial Mission & Vision.

Qualifications

Education Level:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or Chemical, Physical, Biological Science
    OR
  • Associate's Degree in a Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or Chemical, Physical, Biological Science AND minimum of two (2) years clinical laboratory experience to qualify for high complexity testing under CLIA regulations.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or (MS) through a nationally recognized accredited agency (AMT, ASCP, ABOR) 
    OR
  • Certified in Clinical Laboratory Specialty such as Blood Bank (BB), Hematology (H), etc. through a nationally recognized accredited agency (AMT, ASCP, ABOR) AND
    Minimum of two (2) years clinical laboratory experience to qualify for high complexity testing under CLIA regulations.

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in clinical laboratory work experience
    Unless minimum of two (2) years experience to qualify for high complexity testing under CLIA regulations was accepted in lieu of education requirements stated above; in such case a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinicl laboratory work experience.
