The Cook adjusts recipes and decides quantities of food to be prepared according to patient/resident census and visitor projections. Menus are determined in advance, however, this position determines food substitutes and usage of left-overs. The Cook provides work direction to Dietary Assistants. Cook and Dietary Assistants assigned to food preparation to assure that all foods are prepared by the scheduled time. Unusual or major problems are referred to the Food Service Manager as appropriate. |
| Oakes Community Hospital is a licensed twenty (20) bed hospital and swing-bed facility. The Dietary Department serves meals for patients/residents, visitors, special events and/or meetings. The patients receive therapeutic and nutritional foods which are necessary to sustain a happy and healthy life while at Oakes Community Hospital. |
The Cook is in contact with Nursing Staff regarding special diets for patient/residents, with the Food Service Manager to obtain needed supplies, and with Maintenance Staff for equipment repairs. This position is also in contact with employees, visitors and Physicians when serving meals.
