CHI St. Alexius Health is a regional health network with a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, the system also consists of critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services. CHI St. Alexius Health manages four CAHs in North Dakota - Elgin, Linton, and Wishek, as well as Mobridge Regional Medical Center in Mobridge, S.D. CHI St. Alexius Health offers a comprehensive line of inpatient and outpatient medical services, including: a Level II Trauma Center, primary and specialty physician clinics, home health and hospice services, durable medical equipment services, a fitness and human performance center and ancillary services throughout western and central North Dakota.

Works under the supervision of the Clinical Coordinator. The Nurse Assistant assists nursing staff in the delivery of individual patient care for patients assigned to the Unit, according to the unit policies and procedures. Maintains standards of nursing practice, in accordance with the mission, values, and philosophy of St. Alexius Medical Center. All the criteria-based duties and standards within this document will be performed according to the policies, procedures and guidelines of the Medical Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent work experience including ability to read, write and
comprehend medical terminology.
Licensure: Must be licensed as a Nurse Assistant by the North Dakota State Health Department
and meet the requirements according to the State Health Department.
Experience: Experience as nurse assistant preferred.
Skills: Able to organize assignments and work under pressure.
Basic Life Support Certification within the orientation period and meets re-certification as required.
Interpersonal Skills: Good communication skills are necessary because of the constant communication,
both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors, and medical center staff.
Accountable for own conduct and promotes and supports positive working
relationships among staff, between other disciplines, departments, families,
visitors and patients.
Maintains confidentiality.
Physical Effort: Safe levels of physical effort will not exceed:
Lifting: (between knuckle and shoulder height) up to 30 lbs
Carrying: (between hip and shoulder height for a distance up to 28 feet), up to 40 lbs
Pulling: initial forces up to 50 lbs of force
Pushing: initial forces up to 45 lbs of force or sustained forces 15-20 lbs
Hours of Work: Rotating shift work or straight evening or nights. Rotating holidays and weekends
may be required.
Exemption Status: Non-Exempt/Exempt
Other: Works under the following conditions: potential exposure to mechanical, chemical,
electrical and infectious environmental hazards.
