The Woodlands Hospital a primary and secondary care hospital serving North Harris and Montgomery counties. Position Summary:

Provides continuous observation of monitored EKG patterns of patients on telemetry and reports significant information to appropriate nursing personnel; Functions within a designated hospital area to assist nursing personnel in the close observation in the monitoring of patients.

Position Responsibilities:

• Continuous observation of monitored EKG patterns and pulse oximetry as ordered.
• Sets up, calibrates and Maintains settings and alarms on telemetry module.
• Obtains rhythm strip at beginning of shift, on admission and whenever changes occur.
• Labels strip with patient identification, time, lead monitored, PR interval, ST interval, QRS interval
• Trouble shoots telemetry equipment, Ensures monitors are functioning properly; ensure telemetry
• supplies are readily available.
• Accounts for all telemetry transmitters, Verifies daily telemetry charges
• Identifies changes in rate, rhythm, or pattern, notifying RN of these changes. Responds appropriately to emergency situations, runs a continuous EKG strip and notifies appropriate staff
• Assists in answering telephone, Ensures pull down desks are in upright position after posting EKG
• strips on patient chart, keeps work area neat and clean, no food or drink in work station, Ensures
• transmitters are properly cleaned between patients, electrical cords off floor
• Demonstrates a commitment to personal growth and development by completing annual mandatory in-services and Code Validation within given time frame, attends unit-based in-services, attends monthly departmental meetings.
• Demonstrates flexibility in responding to unit/service needs, i.e.floating to other areas

Education:

High School Diploma/GED Required

Minimum Experience:

One (1) year of experience

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrate knowledge in the area of EKG interpretation through the following:

1. a) Pass the Basic Dysrhythmia Rhythm Interpretation Exam
2. b) Successfully complete the Basic Dysrhythmia Interpretation Course (if applicable)
