Responsibilities

We can’t express enough how important our lab staff is to our mission and calling! Our Cytotechnologists play a crucial role in the department! In the lab you will be assisting with a variety of procedures. You will be receiving and preparing for the tests as they come in! Some of what you will do:

  1. Accurately screens and interprets gynecological Pap Tests; correctly identifies abnormal or malignant cells, infectious agents, and other clinically significant findings as defined by the Bethesda reporting system.
  2. Accurately screens and interprets non-gynecological cytology preparations.
  3. Provides Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) support service to clinicians, including slide preparation and rapid on-site adequacy as required.
  4. Accurately issues negative Pap Test reports, and maintains records of individual workload, quality management activities, patient history and results, slides, equipment maintenance, etc., as defined by regulatory requirements.
  5. Follows all CAP and regulatory guidelines; participates in and receives passing score on yearly Pap PT.
  6. Performs accessioning, processing, and staining functions in the laboratory as required

Qualifications

What you will need:

  • 3 or More years of full-time experience is required 
  • Must be able to perform QC 
  • Bachelor’s Degree – Cytotechnology or Biological Sciences
  • Successful completion of Cytotechnology program
  • Certified – CT (ASCP) or Specialist – SCT (ASCP)
