Bakersfield Memorial Hospital is a 426 bed acute care medical center offering a full range of services including the Sarvanand Heart and Brain Center, Grossman Burn Center at Memorial Hospital, expanded maternity and family care, the Lauren Small Children’s Center, orthopedic services, wound care center, 24-hour emergency care and general/outpatient surgery. Memorial Hospital is a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital and is home to the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House. The Chief Financial Officer oversees the financial operations of the service area and advises service area's Senior Vice President of Operations regarding the development and growth of the integrated delivery network encompassing hospitals, ambulatory care sites, physician alignment, joint ventures and payer relations.


Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Oversees budgeting and long term financial planning for the service area in order to achieve the organization's mission and vision through short-term and long-term goals.
  • Supervises investigation and analysis with respect to the service area's financial performance in order to drive improvement throughout the organization.
  • Facilitates teamwork and helps identify best practices in the system or service area that will encourage innovation to improve quality, increase access and reduce the costs of healthcare.
  • Represents the service area for consolidated financial reporting, projections and all other service area-level financial presentations. Accountable for the content and professionalism of financial presentations to Senior CommonSpirit Health Management and the Board of Directors.


Education and Experience: 
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Master's degree, CPA, or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive/combined in healthcare finance and management. Minimum of five (5) years of management experience.
