∙ The role of the E-Learning Instructional Designer is to be a collaborator, consultant, designer, and  builder to create engaging e-learning activities and compelling course content delivered online. 



Primary Accountabilities (Online Focus) 

∙ Create engaging (measured by usage, qualitative and quantitative feedback) e-learning activities and  compelling course content 

∙ Work with subject matter experts to identify target audience’s training needs and gaps ∙ Set instructional end goals and create content that matches them 

∙ Analyze and apply trends and best practices in LMS learning technologies and instructional design ∙ Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process Finish

∙ Create supporting material/media in collaboration with stakeholders and L&OD internal processes  (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.) 

∙ Implement modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the learners understanding ∙ Maintain sharable project documentation and course folders 


Instructional Design Project Management Activities 

∙ Introduce subject matter experts to the instructional design process with clear roles and  responsibilities 

∙ A collaborator and influencer for program design sessions and decisions 

∙ Use a variety of tools to storyboard e-learning content 

∙ Make recommendations to stakeholders as appropriate for how to incorporate learning theory and  best practices for teaching and learning into design of learning materials 

∙ Consult with stakeholders on projects to analyze, assess and identify needs and performance gaps  that can be measurably resolved with training solutions via a variety of methodologies and  performance support tools.

∙ Level set and manage stakeholder's expectations at project kick off and throughout each phase of a  project to ensure all parties understand and agree to scope, required resources, and project  schedule 

∙ Maintain agreed activity commitments and escalate barriers and delays as appropriate ∙ Plan and schedule quality reviews of modules/courses with advance notice to SMEs and  stakeholders 


Audio & Video 

∙ Scripting, assembling, and editing recorded raw material into a suitable, finished product ready for  learner consumption. The material and finished product may include audio, video, dialogue, sound  effects, graphics and special effects. 


Team Work 

∙ Incorporate innovative design into work in learning projects and initiatives by effectively collaborating with: 

o Subject-matter experts to extract what the learner has to "know" and what the learner has to  "know how to do." 

o L&OD team members to design style guides, templates, and identify one voice for instructor  led (ILT), online (OLT), webinar and other modes of delivery of e-learning materials. o LMS Administrator Team to create a learner experience that leverages the advantages of  Instructional design SCORM packages and LMS navigation features. 

o Managing multiple projects simultaneously to ensure on-time delivery of work that is within  scope




Required Education and Experience
∙ Relevant Master’s degree preferred; Bachelor's degree  with a combination of education and/or additional job related experience in lieu of the degrees.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training
Influencing - Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and  strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own  organization.  


Articulate Storyline and Rise - Expert in current version of Storyline  and Rise:  

∙ Creating and applying templates  

∙ Designing and creating storyboards  

∙ Developing learning content 


Learning Management Systems - Understanding and familiarity with  Cornerstone, Infor and SCORM files, 

Audio and Video Editors - Expert in video and audio editing software packages (agreed as the standard by the L&OD team). 

G-Suite - Creating and applying templates Creating facilitator guides,  participant guides, presentations, storyboards and other documents
