The Program Coordinator, with support from the Program Manager, will implement all aspects of the Farm at St. Francis work plan in accordance with the approved grant project proposal. This will include, but is not limited to, the following: general oversight of Farm production, volunteer recruitment and leadership, community outreach, and developing community partnerships to build a collaborative local food policy network.
Additionally, the Program Coordinator will partner with the Program Evaluator to implement and assess the evidence-based research of the Community Capitals Framework for local food systems policy and development. Social science research methodology will be employed to understand the community’s capacity for collaborative alignment, including facilitating focus groups, semi-structured interviews, and surveys.
The overall purpose of this program is to increase food access, strengthen food security, and advance food equity in our region.
Provide general oversight of Farm operations, including irrigation systems, inputs, seeding, planting, weeding, harvesting, storage, etc.
Develop a comprehensive, multi-phase Farm plan, in collaboration with St. Francis Health leadership and the Farm at St. Francis Advisory Committee.
Facilitate volunteer recruitment and retention. The Program Coordinator will ensure sufficient volunteer support for the entire growing season—including training and supporting volunteer team leads. The Program Coordinator will organize teams of volunteers to support Farm operations in all aspects of production.
Partner with the local Food Pantry leadership to provide client choice produce throughout the harvest season through regular donations of fresh fruits and vegetables from the Farm.
Engage opportunities for community education through partnerships with community and government organizations to increase community members’ knowledge, skills, and abilities for growing and preparing food.
Provide leadership to the Farm at St. Francis Advisory Committee. Maintain partnerships with existing organizations and expand outreach to additional organizations and community stakeholders.
Coordinate with the Grant Manager and the Program Evaluator for data collection, research, and grant reporting using the principles of the Community Capitals Framework.
Establish a Farmer to Farmer Mentor Network to support the development of emerging farmers in our region, with particular attention to farmers from underrepresented groups.
Explore opportunities for growing local economic activity and food access through establishing additional Farmers’ markets and other direct to consumer models, either on Farm or in the broader community.
Recruit community partners for a collaborative local food network with the goal of establishing a Food Policy council in our region.

Two year degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Education, Community Development, Dietetics, Health Education, Natural Resources, Sociology, or related field
Ability to communicate before groups
Excels at intercommunications and interactions
Ability to work in an outdoor environment
Proficient in the use of technology, report writing, and supporting social science research
Previous agricultural experience required, organic fruit and vegetable production experience preferred
Four year degree
