CHI St. Alexius Health Garrison includes the services of a 22-bed critical access hospital, a 28-bed skilled nursing facility, an attached rural health clinic, and a newly remodeled Emergency Department that is available 24 hours a day. We offer many outpatient services, including physical therapy, radiology services, laboratory services, cardiac rehabilitation, and IV treatments.

Garrison Memorial Hospital is equipped with 4 emergency rooms, on-site lab, radiology, CT and physical therapy services. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:  Works under the supervision of the registered Nurse/Director of Nursing.  The Licensed practical Nurse will function as a member of the multi-disciplinary health care team under the direction of the Registered Nurse.  Functions according to State Nurse Practice Act, Nursing Policies & Procedure and the Mission and Philosophy of the Facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Gather preliminary patient information
• Record vital signs
• Perform injections
• Care for and dress wounds
• Provide help for daily care
• Monitor a variety of health care equipment
• Monitor medication charts ensuring patients get the correct dosage
• Feed incapacitated patients that aren’t able to feed themselves
• Maintain and monitor IVs
• Prep the patient for procedures
• Inform patients of how to take care of themselves after the hospital stay

Education: Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing.

Licensure: Licensed to practice as a licensed practical nurse in the state of ND or in a compact state.  Graduate Practical Nurse (G.P.N.) must practice under the supervision of a registered nurse while the work authorization to practice is valid.

Experience: Previous healthcare experience preferred but not required.
