The Employee Health Medical Assistant aids with the delivery of care that promotes the safety and wellbeing of all staff. This position performs services under the Employee Health programs at one or more assigned facilities and may include assisting leadership with day to day office functions.
ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
● Performs general care by following established Employee Health procedures.
● Assists with and/or performs respiratory fit testing and associated documentation.
● Prepares documents and where applicable, obtains and records vital signs including but not limited to, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration with handoff to appropriate healthcare professional.
● As allowable per state guidelines and where applicable, collects samples to prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, and performs vaccine administration or other testing for Employee Health.
● Organizes Employee Health services by scheduling and preparing for pre-placement health screenings, diagnostic testing, annual compliance requirements and appointments.
● Prepares, cleans and maintains equipment; ensures safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required. Keeps patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly; disposes of contaminated items according to protocol.
● Supports Employee Health customer needs in person, by phone, and electronically; recognizes concerns of staff, and attempts to resolve or elevates issues for assistance
● Maintains confidentiality of records and protects employee privacy.
● Maintains employee health records by using and supporting Employee Health EMR according to policies and procedures. Attends additional EMR training courses as needed.
● Performs other duties as assigned
Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program OR minimum of 5 years patient care tech/medical assistant work experience in a hospital setting.
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
2 years experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Assistant preferred
Must obtain AAMA Certification or AMT Registration within six months of hire.
Candidates must be eligible to sit for the at the time of application and successfully obtain the certification
AHA Basic Life Support
Ability to draw blood and administer injections where applicable, refer to state guidelines.
Thorough knowledge of the meaning and use of medical terminology and treatment room procedures.
Exceptional planning and organizational skills, sound judgment
Ability to balance numerous diverse assignments simultaneously
Ability to quickly grasp and interpret instructions, new situations, methods and procedures
Ability to follow through on an assignment with little supervision
General office skills, computer experience including but not limited to Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, web-based applications, e-mail, Internet, fax machine, Copy machine and various audio visual equipment
Exhibit judgment necessary to know when to respond to inquiries or refer questions to others and to plan and organize daily work activities and adapt to unexpected changes in priorities
Exceptional communication skills exhibiting pleasant demeanor and clear speaking voice with an ability to diplomatically handle difficult situations at front desk and over phone
