Responsibilities

  • Manually process payments and electronically process Electronic Data Interface (EDI) payment files to our billing platforms. Resolve payments that are rejected from electronic posting files. Balance and reconcile posting to payment batches and to deposit.
  • Credit balance resolution through audit and analysis.
  • Communication with patients, third party payers, coworkers, via phone, and written correspondence to resolve unidentified payments, explanation of benefits and credit balances.
  • Prepare bank deposit by encoding and balancing checks, classing funds to appropriate general ledger and deposit categories.
  • Process satellite clinic deposit paperwork, class by location enter into cashbook validate receipts and collate.
  • Open and sort mail and lockbox items, batch preparation, validate checks, compile for manual posting.
  • Scanning, including preparation.

Qualifications

  • This position requires working knowledge of third-party payer explanation of benefits; a working knowledge of health care billing process; an understanding of CPT-4 and ICD-9 coding; a working knowledge of the coordination of benefits; excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency and accuracy in operating a 10-key and a PC including spreadsheet software; strong customer service skills; the ability to audit effectively; strong analytical and problem solving skills, the ability to work with minimum supervision; and the ability to provide cross-training, as well as to be cross-trained. A high school diploma or GED is required for this position.
