Overview

Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta is a member of the Dignity Health system of health care providers and is a not-for-profit medical facility. We are designated as a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital and are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health care Organizations. In addition to our acute care hospital we also own and operate three Rural Health Clinics providing walk-in immediate care as well as scheduled appointments for routine medical needs.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

 

Under indirect supervision the incumbent is a caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for patients ranging in age from 30 days to geriatric. Responsibility is for a designated time frame. The incumbent will help provide safe therapeutic care for our patients and assists other members of the healthcare team with providing basic patient care under the direction of an RN.

 

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.  This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Unit Coordinator II/Tech or similar position in an acute care facility
  • Nursing Assistant course and/or patient care experience
  • Score of 88% on Monitor Technician exam (to be obtained within 60 days of hire into the position)
  • Competent to perform telemetry monitoring
  • Current BLS certification through an American Heart Association (AHA) provider

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Nursing unit clerical experience
  • High School graduate
