Responsibilities

Job Summary

Reports to the Director of Surgical Services.  Responsibilities include assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation and documentation of surgical patients.  Overall responsibility is for the nursing care of patients and for maintaining standards of nursing practice and optimal outcomes, including supervision of OR Technicians.  Directly assists surgeon intra-operatively, assists with patient positioning and directing other surgical team members while practicing preoperative nursing.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years Perioperative Practice.
  • Experience in both scrub and circulating RN roles.
  • 2 years Perioperative Practice
  • California RN License
  • CNOR certification
  • CPR - BLS
  • ACLS (within 6 months of hire)
  • PALS (within 6 months of hire)
  • Basic Computer knowledge - EHR, Google
  • Special Training: RNFA Credentialing Completed/signed by provider within 3 months of hire within each specialty.
  • Cross train to all periop roles within 6 months of hire.
  • Must have knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative technique relative to operative procedure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous first assist experience.
  • Experience as RN and First Assist in CVOR, Ortho, Neuro, General, Robotics, GYN, Advanced Endoscopy, Hybrid procedures and urology highly preferred.

  • ATLS
  • ONC
  • CFPN
  • CPPS and/or CV-BC

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.  This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
