Job Description

The Senior Revenue Cycle IT Support Analyst leads the technical and operational support of healthcare revenue cycle systems, ensuring efficient processing of billing, claims, and financial transactions across the enterprise. This senior-level role manages complex electronic data interchange (EDI) workflows including 835, 837, 270, 271, and 278 transactions. The analyst provides expert-level troubleshooting, supports integration strategies, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive performance and compliance in revenue cycle operations. They also serve as a mentor to junior analysts and play a key role in system optimization, vendor coordination, and strategic initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead support and administration of revenue cycle systems including billing, claims, and remittance applications.
  • Manage and resolve complex issues related to EDI transactions: 835, 837, 270/271, and 278.
  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for EDI interfaces, system integrations, and payer connectivity.
  • Oversee testing, validation, and implementation of system upgrades, patches, and enhancements.
  • Analyze data trends and system workflows to identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership, compliance teams, and clinical/financial stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Escalate critical system issues and lead root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for workflows, configurations, and technical processes.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior analysts and support staff.
  • Lead cross-functional projects focused on revenue cycle performance, system optimization, and EDI compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience in a Healthcare environment.
  • 10+ years’ experience working in IT as an Application Systems Analyst or Technical Analyst role
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare IT or revenue cycle systems, with demonstrated expertise in EDI formats (835, 837, 270, 271, 278) required.
  • 6 or more years’ experience with application support in a hospital or medical related industry required.
  • In-depth experience with platforms such as Epic Resolute, Cerner, or Meditech.
  • Strong analytical and leadership skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, HL7, and healthcare interoperability standards.
  • Proven experience managing system integrations, vendor relationships, and project lifecycles.
