Job Description

The Revenue Cycle IT Support Analyst provides technical and operational support for healthcare revenue cycle systems, ensuring the efficient processing of billing, claims, and financial transactions. This role includes managing electronic data interchange (EDI) workflows such as 835, 837, 270, 271, and 278 transactions. The analyst plays a key role in troubleshooting system issues, maintaining data integrity, and supporting integration between clinical, financial, and payer systems. Additional responsibilities include monitoring system performance, managing user access, documenting processes, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support revenue cycle applications including billing, claims, and remittance systems.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot EDI transactions: 835 (Remittance Advice), 837 (Claims), 270/271 (Eligibility), and 278 (Authorization).
  • Collaborate with IT, clinical, and revenue cycle teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Maintain, test, and validate integrations with clearinghouses and payers.
  • Assist with system upgrades, testing, deployments, updates, patches, and enhancements.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations.
  • Document support processes, workflows, and resolutions.
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for revenue cycle applications.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to billing, claims, and patient accounts.
  • Monitor system performance and escalate issues as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience in a Healthcare environment.
  • 4-7 years’ experience working in IT as an Application Systems Analyst or Technical Analyst role
  • Experience with EDI file formats (835, 837, 270, 271, 278) and healthcare claims processing required.
  • Experience with revenue cycle platforms (e.g., Epic Resolute, Cerner, Meditech).
  • 4 or more years’ experience with application support in a hospital or medical related industry required.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, HL7, and healthcare data standards.
