Dignity Health’s Bakersfield Hospitals—Mercy and Memorial—have been trusted pillars of compassionate care in Kern County for generations.
Mercy Hospitals have served the Bakersfield community since 1910. Mercy Hospital Downtown is a 194-bed facility located in the heart of the city, while Mercy Hospital Southwest is a 78-bed hospital serving the rapidly growing area west of Highway 99. Together, they offer a broad range of medical and surgical services—including minimally invasive and outpatient procedures, the only licensed OB ED in the community and is a level 2 NICU.
Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, serving the community since 1956, is a 385-bed acute care facility with 48 licensed critical care beds, 13 advanced surgical suites, and a full-service Emergency Department featuring an Accredited Chest Pain Center and a Nationally Certified Stroke Center. The hospital is also home to the Lauren Small Children’s Center, the area’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), a Level II NICU, and the Sarvanand Heart and Brain Center—home to Kern County’s first Bi-Plane Interventional Suite. Additional services include the Family Care and Birthing Center, the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbarics, and the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House. As a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, Memorial is committed to pediatric excellence.
Together, Mercy and Memorial embody One Community. One Mission. One California—providing high-quality, compassionate care to the people of Bakersfield and Kern County for more than a century.
