The Interventional Radiology (IR) Clinic is a leading provider of minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. We are committed to providing exceptional patient care in a supportive and collaborative environment. Our outpatient clinic focuses on delivering comprehensive care before and after interventional procedures, ensuring a smooth and positive experience for our patients.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to join our outpatient team in a non-procedural capacity. As an integral member of our IR Clinic, you will play a vital role in coordinating patient care before and after interventional procedures. This includes effective triage, thorough chart preparation, patient education, and follow-up support. You will work closely with physicians, referring providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Chart Preparation:Review and verify patient medical histories, imaging, labs, and documentation prior to IR consults or procedures. Ensure all necessary pre-procedure clearances and documentation are in place. Utilize the EMR and clinic checklists to track readiness and completeness.
Pre-Procedural Calls and Coordination:Conduct telephone assessments with patients to confirm health status, review medication lists, and provide fasting, diabetic, and anticoagulation instructions.. Identify any contraindications or concerns and escalate to providers as needed. Educate patients and caregivers on the importance of having an escort post-procedure and post-anesthesia safety requirements.
Triage:Monitor and manage the Radiology RN pool for incoming patient messages, appointment changes, and clinical concerns.
Address or escalate clinical issues appropriately, documenting in the EMR in a timely and accurate manner.
Coordinate with referring providers, IR physicians, and schedulers to ensure optimal care flow.
Post-Procedural Follow-Up:Make follow-up calls to assess patient recovery, address side effects or complications, and reinforce discharge instructions.
Use quality tracking tools (e.g., HI-IQ) to log adverse events or patient feedback for continuous quality improvement.
Required:
Current Washington state licensure as an RN
CPR certification is required every two years –ACLS –PALS (depending on location)
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing approved by the Washington State Board of Nursing - Completion of related residency program with minimum 2 years of experience in area of care (OR, PACU, IR Preferred)
Prefer a minimum of 1 year experience in IR specialty. Prefer candidates with certification in related areas of care, such IR, OR, PACU
Strong patient assessment skills, ability to work collaboratively in team setting, current working knowledge of electronic medical records
