Position Summary:
In accordance with the mission and philosophy of Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican Hospitals the Staff Chaplain is a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for providing pastoral care for patients and their families.
Minimum:
Minimum of one year of supervised hospital chaplain experience, which may include Clinical Pastoral Education
Master’s Degree in Theology from an institution accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation
Completion of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by ACPE
Must obtain board certification within 2 years of hire from one of the following:
Association of Professional Chaplains (APC)
National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC)
Neshama: Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC)
Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC)
Understanding and application of the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare Services
Sensitivity to diverse religious and cultural practices
Ability to function effectively in crisis and under stress
Proficiency in using technology for documentation and communication (e.g., EMR, email)
Completion of annual required education and safety training
Maintain certification through applicable membership dues and fees
Complete and maintain unit-specific training
