The Charge Nurse is a registered nurse who provides leadership and direction for a specific nursing unit or shift, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care. This role involves coordinating patient assignments, supervising and mentoring nursing staff, managing unit resources, and serving as a liaison between patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. The Charge Nurse is responsible for problem-solving, conflict resolution, and ensuring adherence to hospital policies and procedures, while also promoting a positive and collaborative work environment. Ultimately, the Charge Nurse plays a critical role in optimizing patient outcomes and maintaining efficient unit operations.
