Responsibilities

Register Respiratory Therapist performs all ranges of respiratory care including cardiac and medical critical care advanced modes of ventilator care as well as non-invasive ventilation on adults pediatrics and neonates emergency respiratory care and blood gas analysis. In addition this individual will have advanced knowledge on cell saver rapid infuser (Belmont) and istat. This individual will be specializing in the Adult Critical Care area performing hemodynamic monitoring and assisting the anesthesiologist in Neurosurgery OR.

 

  • Ensure compliance with VAP protocol i.e.Hi/Lo evac tube, aspiration precaution and HOB elevation
  • Properly handles blood specimens, reports critical values and utilizes 2 patient identifiers in accordance with policy.
  • Correctly charges, labels, and discards medications/supplies removed per patient from Omni cell without use of floor charge
  • Operates equipment for specialty area Cell Saver, Blood Gas Analyzer, Hepcon, IABP, Nitric Oxide
  • Completes chart reviews by verifying physician orders, notating orders, and documents verbal/telephone orders properly.

Qualifications

Minimum: 

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Completion of an AMA approved Respiratory Therapist Program
  • Two (2) years experience respiratory services including Critical Care
  • Active Arizona Respiratory Therapist License
  • Active NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist License
  • American Heart Association-issued BLS card
  • American Heart Association-issued ACLS card

Preferred: 

  • Arterial Line insertion experience and hemodynamics training
  • NBRC Hemodynamic Specialty Examination
