Overview

This is a prn/casual position, with flexible schedules available. 

 

As our Pharmacy Student at CHI Health CUMC-Bergan Mercy, you’ll help our Pharmacists by safely assisting in the preparation and dispensing of medications to help our patients feel better and recover from their illness or injury. You'll build trust in these interactions with patients and staff to provide excellent customer service.  To excel in this role, you must enjoy learning new concepts and researching information in real-time to provide solutions for real people. You should also continually look for ways to go above and beyond for our patients, delivering an exceptional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties of a pharmacy student technician in accordance with established policies and procedures related to the preparation and distribution of medication. 
  • Perform duties required to restock medication dispensing cabinets and fill first doses. 
  • Perform duties required in processing medications at patient discharge and transfer.
  • Perform duties required for patient specific medication delivery. 
  • Perform duties required for narcotic distribution and assist in discrepancy resolution. 
  • Process credits and restock returns.
  • Repackages and labels bulk oral solid and liquid drugs into unit-dose form under pharmacist supervision. Reconstitutes drugs and prepares compounds under a pharmacist’s supervision.
  • Answer phone and determine order status; triage calls for appropriate resolution.  
  • Ensure current dating of all supplies and medications.  
  • Replenish and deliver drug trays. 
  • Assist in training new personnel.
  • Perform duties required for preparation and dispensing of IV solutions. 
  • Maintain all records and documents in accordance with state and federal regulations. 

Qualifications

  • Registered in a school of pharmacy, 1-2 years
  • Must be registered in Iowa as a Pharmacy Intern
