JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE
Educates and trains patient escort staff to ensure competency and/or dispatching for the department; must ensure that
equipment is operational, safe and functioning according to hospital standards; will maintain quality assurance monitors
to evaluate the quality of service provided to patients, communicate effectively with management and take on a
leadership role.
ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Become familiar and utilize the Bed Central system and back‐up process for coordinating patient transports and
  discharges.
• Must be able to assist and transport patients during staff shortages.
•  Assign trips to patient escort pagers through Bed Central.
• Answer a busy phone while maintaining an error tracking log.
• Maintain a steady flow of communication between the Transportation staff, Supervisors, Unit Secretaries and Nurse
  Managers.
• Report any conflicts immediately to the supervisor/manager.
• Performs other duties when requested.

Required Licensure and Certifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• BLS- AHA

• Good written/oral communication skills
