Our offerings include High-Risk Pregnancy Care, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), 24-hour OB Hospitalists, Partnership with the Neonatology Team at Seattle Children’s Hospital, Midwifery Services, Childbirth and Family Education Classes, Breastfeeding Support with our Certified Lactation Consultants, Frenotomy and Treatment Options for Babies with Tongue-Tie, Vaginal Birth after Cesarean (VBAC), Waterbirth, Pelvic Physical Therapy Program, and Doulas to provide physical and emotional support to pregnant women both before and after childbirth.

 

Job Summary:

 

Performs clerical and administrative work relating primarily to the daily scheduling and/or registration of patient admissions and/or consults for the assigned department. Work is conducted in accordance with established standards and procedures, and requires the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently. If assigned to the Family Birth Unit, work also involves maintaining security access to the floor in accordance with established procedures.

 

Essential Duties:

 

Schedules and/or registers patients for department services or studies based on authorized referral; calls patients to set up and confirm appointments; follows up to ensure that each referral is contacted and a disposition is reached; records cancellations and reschedules time slot.


Completes all required documentation in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner in accordance with CHI-FH standards and procedures.

  • Completes necessary paperwork, billing, and record keeping documentation.
  • Transfers patient data submitted by the referring physician to internal forms, and faxes paperwork for patient pre-registration; follows up to obtain relevant records or information prior to scheduled appointment; assembles and processes charts for scheduled patients in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepares patient accounts for billing, including insurance eligibility, verification, pre-certification and authorization/re-authorization; enters, corrects and/or batches daily charges into automated system according to established procedures; reviews reports to validate that charges are accurate for services received; ensures that inaccuracies are corrected.

Provides customer service to patients, staff and physicians and provides information in response to general inquiries from patients, visitors, staff and others.

  • Answers, screens and directs telephone calls; provides information in response to general inquiries from patients, visitors, staff and others; may greet and/or escort patients; may prepare examination rooms and dressing areas for patient’s use.
  • If assigned to Family Birth Unit, follows established procedures for maintaining floor access/security.

Performs a variety of related administrative support duties for department.

  • Administrative duties may vary according to department needs, but may include monitoring/ordering office supplies; collating and assembling documents; photocopying/faxing reports, files, charts, etc.; typing/assembling/distributing written materials such as minutes, documentation, schedules, etc.; maintaining and updating files; preparing reports and other duties of a similar nature.

Qualifications

Education/Work Experience:

 

One year of related work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities.
