Comprehensive Care
Dominican offers emergency services and is a Certified Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center. Dominican’s services include the only comprehensive Cancer Center in Santa Cruz County a Total Joint Replacement program and advanced neurological and endoscopic services. Dominican regularly receives ‘A’ grades for hospital safety from Leapfrog Group and has received national recognition for superior patient safety cardiac care and stroke treatment from Healthgrades a leading provider of comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.
As Santa Cruz County’s heart attack (STEMI) receiving center Dominican Hospital provides cutting edge cardiac care. The hospital’s heart attack treatment times consistently beat the national average and the hospital offers two cardiac catheterization labs available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Groundbreaking cardiac procedures at Dominican include the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure which allows for heart valve replacement without opening a patient’s chest.
Dominican Hospital has forged significant partnerships with area hospitals to bring exceptional care to Santa Cruz County. The hospital offers a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) through a partnership with Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. Neurosurgery at Dominican is also offered through a partnership with Stanford Health Care.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

 

The Utility Worker will perform duties as assigned which meet the requirements of the contract between Dominican Hospital and Stationary Engineers Local 39.

  • Minor facility repairs
  • Groundskeeping
  • Assist with managing of basic maintenance on hospital support equipment
  • Complete required daily logs per assignment
  • Perform safety checks on hospital equipment
  • Sign making, Light replacement, Changing filters
  • Locating parts, materials and tools for Hospital Stationary Engineer Associates
  • Unplugging/repairing toilets and sinks
  • Relocate hospital equipment as needed
  • Cleaning duties of the job site, shop and mechanical areas
  • Painting, drywall repair, job site containment and safety checks
  • Other duties as assigned by the Engineering Management or the Lead Engineer
  • Assisting Stationary Engineer when additional labor is required that does not involve significant use of advanced hand power tools

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Minimum of one (1) year in the field of facility support and/or service industry and the ability to exhibit a strong working knowledge of facility repairs.
  • Candidates must demonstrate safe work skills with tools and equipment, as well as knowledge of facility maintenance practices
  • High School Graduate
  • Auto:CA

 

Preferred:

 

  • Preferred specialized training and/or educational certificate for any associated facility maintenance (HVAC, electrical, locksmith, refrigerant, etc.)
  • Preferred specialized training in facility maintenance and the desire to enhance skills.
