Responsibilities

We are now accepting applications for the Critical Care new graduate RN Residency program at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health.

This Cohort will start on August 18th.  All new new graduates must have an active WA State RN license no later than Wednesday August 13th.  

 

A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition into practice. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas
Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values, patient/customer focus, taking ownership, health care knowledge, teamwork, clinical performance improvement, service excellence, decision making, critical thinking, and patient safety.  We offer the Nurse Residency for our hospital inpatient units as well as some of our outpatient clinics. This is a program focused on supporting the new graduate nurse from entry level to competent professional nurse. The evidence-based curriculum provides emphasis on leadership, patient safety outcomes, and professional development. Our program offers an individualized professional development plan and monthly seminars conducted during the first year of employment at Virginia Mason. Our Residency program will prepare you to successfully begin your career as a confident nursing professional.

 

Most positions are full time (36-40 hours per week). Shifts may vary, 8-12 hours in duration. Some positions may require working every other weekend.

Qualifications

  • Current WA State RN license required.
  • 0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experience
  • EKG Monitor Validation & ACLS will be required within 90 days of hire.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing approved by the Washington State Board of Nursing
  • Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

  • Must meet the requirements of the year long program, including preparation work and class attendance
  • Must remain in a full-time position for the entirety of the year long program
  • Must be able to work and train on either night or day shifts including holidays
  • Must agree to terms and conditions of the program
