Responsibilities

The Surgical Technologist (ST) is an integral component of the surgery team providing expertise in the role of the scrub nurse. The ST works closely with the Registered Nurse in planning for and providing care to the operative patient, and in meeting the needs of the surgeon. Provides appropriate patient care according to the age of the patient, specifically: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality as per Administrative Policy.  

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • 0-2 yrs experience
  • Graduate of an accredited surgical tech school with a minimum of 200 hours of clinical rotations
  • HSD/GED or 2 years equivalent work
  • CT CPRBLS
  • Can scrub, set up and maintain a sterile field and perform the duties of a SurgicalTechnologist for all surgery specialties
  • Must have the ability to read, write and speak English

Preferred:

  • National Surgical Tech certification (CST) An individual that has obtained thecredential of Certified Surgical Technologist, has the knowledge and experience to perform the task of operating the skin stapler, for the purposeof wound approximation under the direction and supervision of the surgeon.

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.  This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
