Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Home Health Aides are responsible for providing personal care to home-bound patients and to foster independence as patient/family are able to begin assuming care. It is the responsibility of the aide to ensure that care is provided in a safe environment, utilizing equipment appropriately and as instructed. The Home Health Aide follows a defined Plan of Care and is responsible to document according to departmental policy and procedure.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Requires a current Home Health Aide Certificate. 
  • Has the ability to read, speak and write English in order to perform duties of the position. 
  • Will demonstrate current competencies and certifications required by Home Healthcare.
  • A current California drivers license, proof of current auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Knowledge of must be able to complete a homemaker/home aide competency examination. 
  • Knowledge of medical terminology Ability to work as a team member to meet the department goals and objectives. 
  • Work effectively under multiple demands and adjust priorities as circumstances required to meet patient or staffing needs.
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy and precision on a consistent basis in the performance of aide procedures. 
  • Treat co-workers, patients, physicians and family members with dignity and respect. 
  • Maintain patient confidentiality. 
  • Work a flexible schedule and be willing to work additional hours if needed for the provision of quality patient care.
  • Have the ability to physically gain entry into various homes and buildings. 
  • Physically able to walk, stand, stoop, lift, drive, get in and out of vehicles frequently, transfer patients, good manual dexterity, visual and auditory ability, withstand unusual heat, cold, rain.
