Responsibilities

The Thurston Innovation Center at the Barrow Neurological Institute is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Student Research Technician to join our multidisciplinary team.

 

This position is ideal for an undergraduate or graduate student interested in neuroscience biomedical engineering computer science or a related field. The student tech will support the development and testing of software solutions medical devices and educational tools aimed at advancing patient care and neuroscience research.

 

Key Responsibilities: Assist with the prototyping and testing of digital tools and medical devices. Contribute to user interface development data collection workflows and basic programming tasks. Support data acquisition analysis and documentation related to ongoing projects. Help prepare research materials presentations and educational content. Collaborate with engineers clinicians and researchers in iterative development cycles. Qualifications: Current enrollment in a university program related to neuroscience engineering computer science or life sciences. Familiarity with programming (i.e. Python MATLAB or JavaScript) or software development is preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team. Interest in innovation and translational research in a clinical environment.

Qualifications

Background in biology or chemistry preferred.

High School/GED Diploma Required 

Knowledge of research clinical or other scientific environment required.

Fundamental knowledge and background in the biological sciences or related field preferred.

 

Preferred: Familiar with laboratory techniques. Demonstrates an ability to continually improve performance.

Familiar with advanced computer skills and with aptitude to learn proper laboratory or clinical study techniques preferred.
