Night Per Diem Neuroscience Registered Nurse
Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a Joint Commission Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center of Excellence. The Neuroscience Unit is the designated unit where all Stroke Patients are admitted/transferred. We are also the designated unit for our Spine Surgery patients and we plan to see Joint Commission Designation as a Spine Center of Excellence in the upcoming year or two. We work closely with Dignity's Neuro Institute which provides many opportunities for ongoing education. The Neuroscience Unit is comprised of 30 private rooms and located on the 5th floor of the McAuley Tower. Our patients have a beautiful view of the Sierra Nevada Mountains on the East side of the unit, where they can watch the sunrise and enjoy natural light all day. We have a highly competent team who enjoys working together. Our RNs participate in daily Multidisciplinary Rounds, along with Physicians, PT/OT/ST staff, Pharmacists, Social Worker, Care Coordinators, Stroke Coordinator, and occasionally a representative from Administration.
The incumbent provides, coordinates and directs care to individuals and families using a holistic approach. The nursing process is used as a structured mechanism for critical thinking and problem solving in providing effective and appropriate care within a safe and confidential environment from admission to discharge. Each RN is responsible for collaborating with members of the healthcare team, providing leadership, personal/professional development, and conducting him/herself professionally.
