Responsibilities

Position Summary

 

The primary responsibility of the Trauma PI Coordinator is to support the Trauma Program through analysis of predetermined triggers and monitors developed through the criteria in the Resources for the Optimal Care of the Injured Patient, review of TQIP reports and other trauma related PI data collected by the hospital.  The PI Coordinator assists in the documentation of the trauma programs’ performance improvement. The PI Coordinator assures that appropriate review processes are in place for loop closure and continued monitoring phases. The PI Coordinator participates in all aspects of education related to the Trauma Program.

  • Manages trauma patient data registry to improve and promote health care outcomes, collect and analyze data from the Trauma Registry and provide reliable data to further expand trauma related programs.
  • Actively participates in implementation of performance improvement activities as indicated to improve performance of the Trauma Program
  • Monitors and evaluates protocols, standards of care, practice guidelines, and policies and procedures within the scope of trauma care.  Reviews clinical incidents in collaboration with Trauma Program Manager and Trama Medical Director to determine appropriate actions.
  • Implements house-wide initiatives using research and evidence-based practice for trauma patients throughout Mercy Medical Center.
  • Complies with established regulatory and accrediting agency standards, policies and protocols.
  • Provide trauma education to the community and hospital staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

Qualifications

  • High school degree required.
  • Above average interpersonal, communication, negotiation and organizational skills.  Must have fluent English language skills (verbal and written). Must be committed to quality patient/customer service.
  • American Heart Association BLS required
  • Licensure in the State of California as a Registered Nurse
  • TNCC within 18 months of hire/transfer
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with database management preferred. 
  • Experience with American College of Surgeons Trauma Standards preferred.  
  • Experience with injury prevention activities and program development preferred.
  • Experience with medical record coding is beneficial

 

 

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.  This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
