Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for managing quality patient care, consistent with the healthcare philosophy of Marian Medical Center. This entails using the nursing process and coordinating the plan of care with the healthcare team. In addition, the RN will assume leadership for unit personnel.

 

The RN must be able to work within a team model of patient-care delivery. They must also be proficient in basic nursing skills, specialty skills if applicable, and the nursing process, and be able to apply these principles appropriately. The RN must be able to work with others across all departments, react calmly and efficiently in emergencies, and achieve results with and through people by using creative and innovative solutions as well as problem-solving and conflict management skills. In addition to the qualifications above, the RN must be caring and compassionate, able to organize and prioritize work efficiently, and have good written and oral English skills. Good active listening skills are also required.

In addition to their core duties, employees are responsible for completing unit competency assessments, an annual safety review, CPR, and renewing licenses by maintaining the required continuing education units. In addition to these major responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current or within previous 2 years, workexperience in Critical Care (CCU) primarily in Cardiovascular specialty, Emergency Department (ED), or cardiac catheterization services department or interventional radiology department. Exceptions made in case by case basis.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing from an Accredited Program.
  • Current Unencumbered California RN State License.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) - may be optained with 30 days from hire date.
  • Current AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - may be optained with 30 days from hire date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Angiographic and/or scrub experience desired with CCL, Electrophysiology Lab (EP) or Interventional Radiology (IR) experience.
  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) CCRNTM certification.
  • Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
  • Registered Cardiovascular Interventional Specialist (RCIS) certification (and/or) CCI
  • Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification.

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.  This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
