Registered nurses must work within the Marian Regional Medical Center healthcare philosophy by managing quality patient care through the nursing process, coordinating plans of care with the healthcare team, and assisting unit personnel with their tasks. Employees are responsible for several activities, such as completing unit competency assessments, renewing their license by maintaining continuing education units, and successfully passing clinical math exams. In addition to these major responsibilities, the registered nurses may be assigned other duties.
Candidates for the registered nurse L&D role must possess certain skills and traits. For example, candidates must be able to work in a team environment, have basic and specialty nursing skills, apply principles of the nursing process, organize and prioritize work efficiently, have clear and effective written and oral English skills, and actively participate in process improvement activities.
