Overview

For more than 70 years, Mercy Medical Center Redding has offered comprehensive health care in the North State, providing acute care and a full range of medical services. The 267-bed hospital offers major medical services including a Level II Trauma Center as well as specialized Cardiovascular Care, Stroke Care, Orthopedics, Neurological Surgery, Comprehensive Cancer Care, Maternity Care, and da Vinci Robotic Surgery. It is the sole provider of obstetrical services, along with the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Shasta County. In addition, the hospital’s network of care includes Mercy Home Health and Hospice and Dignity Health Connected Living. Responsibilities

Position Summary:

 

The incumbent will perform all duties of Housekeeping plus will fulfill an extended role of providing technical support to the efficient running of the surgical schedule. The incumbent is a member of the surgical team who is accountable for providing supportive services under the direct supervision of the circulating RN or OR Management.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One year prior Perioperative Technician experience in an acute care operating room required
  • If operational conditions exist and there are no candidates that meet the minimum qualifications, training may be offered to candidates with experience in procedural area cleaning (IR, Cath Lab, Endo, OBOR)
  • High school Diploma or equivalent level of work experience
  • Technical ability to effectively operate and trouble shoot equipment and ability to cross train to core tech and central sterile tech duties
  • Ability to read and comprehend physician preference cards and equipment operation instructions
  • BLS through the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to independently function in fast paced, demanding environment, implement critical thinking skills and anticipate needs of the department
  • Completion of central sterile/intrument processing course
