You must complete a written essay, no more than two double-spaced pages (not including title page) in APA format: 

  • On the title page, clearly state your graduation date, the date that you passed or are projecting to take the NCLEX, and if you have worked for Dignity Health / CommonSpirit in the past (include your previous employee #).
  • Discuss why you would like to work at St Rose Dominican Hospitals, and what your goals are in nursing.  Convince the managers why you are special, with more to offer.
  • **Due to document availability within the applicant system, please only submit one essay regardless of the number of departments you are interested in and/or applications you submit.

All positions are varied shifts until the program has been completed successfully. Once the program is complete, you will be instructed to apply to an available position depending on department needs.

Responsibilities

Position Summary: 

 

A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition into practice. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas, listed below. 

 

Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values, patient/customer focus, taking ownership, health care knowledge, teamwork, clinical performance improvement, service excellence, decision making and critical thinking, and patient safety.

  • Builds skills to utilize current evidence based practice knowledge, the nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide holistic care to individuals across the lifespan and care continuum.
  • Learns to collaborate and communicate with the interprofessional team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.
  • Accountability for own practice, delegated care, and the coordination of care delivery. Behaves in a manner that supports colleagues, and maintains respect, trust and dignity.
  • Acquires and maintains knowledge in nursing practice and assumes responsibility for the professional development of self.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.
  • 0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experience.
  • Active License as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State in which s/he will be practicing or the state of primary residency if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
  • BLS certification - American Heart Association
  • Additional certifications may be required based on population(s) served and services provided.
  • Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:  

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
