St. Michaels Medical Center delivers approximately 2000 babies annually and is the only hospital on the Kitsap Peninsula that offers obstetrical, delivery and postpartum care. Our offerings include High-Risk Pregnancy Care, Level II Special Care Nursery with a partnership with the Neonatal Practitioner Team from Seattle Children’s Hospital, 24-hr OB Hospitalists, Childbirth and Family Education Classes, Breastfeeding support both inpatient and outpatient, Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC), and a volunteer doula program to provide physical and emotional support to pregnant patients both before and after childbirth.

JOB SUMMARY: 

 

SMMC Special Care Nursery Level II NICU.  This RN position will provide care to critically ill neonates and preemies as young as 32 weeks gestation. The Special Care Nursery RN must be able to attend both low and high risk deliveries when needed and be able to assist with stabilization and transport of infants born prior to 32 weeks gestation. This position will also be responsible for delivering care to postpartum women and newborns on a rotating basis.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
  • One year of related work experience is preferred or completion of NICU / MOther/Baby Education Program after hire.
  • Registered Nurse issued by the Washington State Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification. Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
  • National Certification Corporation (NCC) certification Low Risk Neonatal or NICU preferred
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification completion within 6 months of date of hire.
