Overview

CHI St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center is seeking a dynamic and experienced Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) Coordinator RN to join our growing MCS/Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Program. This is a unique opportunity for a nurse with expertise in advanced heart failure care to develop and implement cutting-edge care protocols, collaborate across disciplines, and make a significant impact on patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive MCS/VAD program to improve patient outcomes and quality of care.

  • Collaborate with the inpatient heart failure team and multidisciplinary staff to ensure seamless, high-quality patient care.

  • Lead the creation and implementation of clinical pathways, order sets, and best-practice protocols.

  • Provide expert education and support to healthcare staff, patients, families, and the community.

  • Monitor clinical documentation, patient outcomes, and program performance, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Serve as the expert on MCS devices, providing hands-on device management and support during procedures.

  • Lead community outreach and educational initiatives to raise awareness of heart failure management and MCS treatment options.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to research and program development.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (required); BSN (preferred)

  • License/Certification: Current AR RN license (required), Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire

  • Experience: Clinical expertise in heart failure disease management and MCS/VAD care

  • Strong knowledge of MCS technology, pharmacology for heart failure patients, and regulatory/accreditation standards

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills

  • Ability to manage and evaluate program metrics and drive continuous quality improvement
