Supported by the rich community history Dominican Hospital, our doctors provide convenient, personalized care to patients throughout the region along the full continuum of care. We operate 18 clinics in Santa Cruz County and feature more than 100 providers with specialties including pediatrics, oncology and hematology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, gastroenterology, OB/GYN, urology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and urgent care. Santa Cruz County is 70 miles south of San Francisco and boasts great surf, sandy beaches, redwood-covered mountains and more.

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the RN-Medical Oncology performs a wide range of duties and tasks related to the care and treatment of cancer patients. The RN-Medical Oncology is responsible for knowing his/her professional scope of practice as defined by the California Business and Professional Code and must maintain applicable and current licensing. The RN maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment, and performs patient care services that support the Medical Oncologist and clinical staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current California Registered Nursing (RN) license
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, with a focus on registered nursing
  • Two (2) years of experience as an RN in an acute care or ambulatory care setting
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills
  • Medical terminology, familiarity with CPT coding procedures and reference tools, and pharmacology appropriate to Registered Nurse scope of practice is essential
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (e.g., BSN) degree
  • One (1) year of oncology experience
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred
  • Knowledge of chemotherapy drugs, chemo toxicity, and chemo schedules
  • Ability to work well as part of an interdisciplinary team in the treatment and care of sick and/or terminally ill patients and their families
