The Market Chief Medical Officer (MCMO) for the Houston market is a senior level leadership position with important market responsibilities that align with region and national priorities. The MCMO’s primary responsibilities are at the market level and the individual reports directly to the Market President with matrix reporting to the Region Chief Medical Officer (RCMO). The MCMO has a dyad relationship with Market Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and together they are accountable to the Market President, Region Chief Medical Officer, and Region Chief Nursing Officer to lead clinical care delivery in the market. The Houston market is composed of 8 hospitals including a large quaternary academic medical center, 3,200 medical staff, and 800 advanced practice providers. The Houston market is part of the CommonSpirit South region, which is composed of 33 acute care facilities serving 7 distinct markets across 6 states. Ambulatory assets include ambulatory surgery centers, imaging centers, urgent care facilities, and over 350 medical clinics.
The Market Chief Medical Officer is a key Executive Market team member partnering to develop and implement market operating plans inclusive of strategy, operations, and care delivery. The market Chief Medical Officer builds and develops leadership teams resulting in ownership and accountability that results in rapid implementation of clinical best practices, reduces unnecessary care variation, and drives
improvement in the quality of care, the efficiency of care and the cost of care at all market hospitals. Additional market accountabilities as the MCMO include patient safety, patient experience, physician engagement, physician recruitment, and medical staff affairs. A key function of the MCMO is to drive alignment across local hospitals in the market, and to align with region and national priorities.
