On Call RN PACU

Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a 384-bed not-for-profit Level 2 Trauma Center located in Carmichael California. We have served north Sacramento County as well as south Placer County for over 50 years. Our facility is one of the area's largest medical centers and also one of the most comprehensive. We are a 12 bed PACU of a level 2 trauma facility. The PACU department recovers patients from our inpatient and outpatient services, ranging from general surgery, bariatric, orthopedics, and pediatric services. We recover and discharge patients to include educating families and patients. Our unit is a fast paced environment designed to support up to 10 working OR's 24 hours a day. 

Job Summary:

The incumbent is defined as a professional who provides and supervises care to individuals and families. The PACU registered nurse provides patient and family care based on the nursing process and consistently provides a safe and confidential environment post surgical intervention. As a professional, the PACU registered nurse is responsible for providing leadership and maintaining personal professional development.

The incumbent shall demonstrate behaviors consistent with the core (Mercy) values in support with Mercy San Juan Medical Center and the Mission and Philosophy of Dignity Health.

Minimum: 

• At least 1 year experience as a PACU Registered Nurse in a post anesthesia care unit or in an ICU/ED setting
• Current California RN License
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS from the American Heart Association
• Other certifications may be required
• Weekends and Call required
• Must work at least one (1) shift per four week pay period to maintain competencies
• Must sign up for at least three (3) standby assignments per week

Preferred: 

• Skills related to laboratory and x-ray order entry and online documentation preferred
