Nestled in the heart of East Sacramento, Dignity Health Mercy General Hospital is a 313 bed acute care facility that provides a wide range of services with special advocacy for the poor and underserved. Mercy General is home to the nationally ranked Alex G. Spanos Heart & Vascular Institute. Key achievements and recognitions include: from the Joint Commission; Advanced Joint Replacement, Spine Center of Excellence Primary Stroke Center, Ventricular Assist Device, and Chest Pain Certification. Responsibilities

Position Summary: 

 

Our Oncology Unit offers a warm, caring and supportive environment for our Oncology and medical patients. Our nurses, along with a multidisciplinary team, help patients make difficult choices more manageable, by ensuring that their choice of treatment comes from honest, informed consent. Through their role as a patient advocate, our nurses build a special bond with patients from the beginning of a new diagnosis and through the process of treatment. This rapport ensures that our patients develop successful coping mechanisms, knowledge of appropriate symptom management, and long term adjustment for the best quality of life and outcome.

 Our Oncology nurses gain a great perspective of the important things in life like family, friends and a strong support system. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

 

  • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • One (1) year Registered Nurse in an acute care Telemetry Unit.
  • Current BLS certification through the AHA 
  • Current chemotherapy certification
  • Other certifications may be required
