Responsibilities

As our Cardiac Nurse at CHI Saint Joseph Hospital’s Heart Institute, you’ll care for patients who may have life-threatening cardiac events or conditions while helping their families navigate daily care and the long-term plan for healing and maintenance outside of the hospital.

You’ll never have the same day twice as your patients’ needs evolve. That’s why you must be adaptable and detail-oriented, observing vitals and reporting the warning signs early to our multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, EKG techs, and other cardiovascular professionals.

Your success in this role comes from your enthusiasm to go the extra mile for your patients and your strong assessment skills. To further support your nursing career, we offer continuing education opportunities to help you advance your clinical nursing skills.

  • Caring for patients admitted to our heart and vascular intensive care unit
  • Collaborating with cardiologists, EKG techs, echo techs, and others
  • Assess and interpret hemodynamic parameters and communicate any changes in vitals indicating a more serious condition
  • You’ll be a trusted educator and resource for your patients’ recovery and prevention of reoccurring issues thanks to the care plans you develop and implement

Qualifications

  • Associated Degree in Nursing from accredited program
  • Active RN license in good standing with the state of Kentucky (KY)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Previous nursing experience in Me/Surg, Telemetry, Cardiac, Emergency, or Critical Care preferred
