Overview

CHI Health St. Elizabeth, founded by the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration in 1889, is a full-service, 260-bed, nonprofit regional medical center in Lincoln, Neb. St. Elizabeth specializes in the treatment areas of newborn and pediatric care, women’s health, burn and wound, cardiology, oncology, emergency medicine, orthopedics and neuroscience.

Responsibilities

    • Sets up serving counters with hot and cold food items according to the established guidelines.
    • Serves food graciously and accurately to all customers.
    • Cleans and sanitizes tables, serving counters and other food service equipment.
    • Prepares and serves grill menu items to order.
    • Operates the cash register and maintains cash records per department policy.
    • Maintains inventories, records temperatures, and assists in departmental quality assurance program.
    • Accurate and timely patient tray assembly and portioning of food, beverages, etc., for the meal service.
    • Disassembles returned patient trays, cleans and sanitizes equipment, dishes, trays and carts before and/or after each meal. Prepares dishwasher for operation and empties and cleans when finished.
    • Operates dishwasher to ensure thorough cleaning, sanitizing, and drying of dishware, pots and pans, and utensils. Sorts, stacks, and soaks all dishes and flatware in proper containers according to standardized procedures.  
    • Keeps all equipment and working area clean and orderly.  Maintains tray, china, and silverware supplies in the Dining Center.  Loads, delivers, and returns food carts to and from all patient areas.

 

Qualifications

Preferred Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED

Previous food service experience. 

For Dining Center duties cash handling experience.

Required Licensure and Certifications

None

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

If working in a unit located in or traveling to Iowa, or a Behavioral Health/Psych unit: Mandatory Reporter Adult and Mandatory Reporter Child - within 6 months; tracked through Learning system


Must be able to read and write or follow oral and written directions.

Ability to communicate with co-workers, supervisory and management personnel.

Must pass the health screening required by the Hospital. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Ability to be on feet all day. Must have good eye-hand coordination. Ability to bend, stoop, squat, climb on step ladder, and to reach above shoulder level. Ability to crouch, kneels, and balance. Ability to use both hands at the same time.
