Responsibilities

Job Summary:

 

The Multimodal Imaging Genetics Lab is actively seeking candidates with a strong background in population genetics and bioinformatics. The ideal candidate will have experience analyzing genome-wide association studies (GWAS) other large-scale genetic datasets to uncover genetic architecture and mechanisms underlying complex diseases. The incumbent will exercise strong IT judgement, data quality and integrity management skills to accelerate computational workflows in genomics 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Analyze and interpret large-scale genomics analysis, including GWAS, sequencing, and transcriptomic datasets, to identify genetic variants associated with complex diseases under the guidance of faculty mentor
  • Contribute to the design and execution of genetic studies, including data harmonization and meta-analyses.
  • Develop and implement statistical models and bioinformatics pipelines for genetic association studies and polygenic risk score analyses
  • Responsible for ensuring and protecting data integrity at all times.
  • Follows organizational policies and procedures around the extraction and delivery of data requests for research-based efforts.
  • Provides analysis of data and systems, including functional and technical documentation.
  • Assists in delivering tasks for improving workflow availability, security, compliance, and performance.
  • Actively participates and/or implements data development activities such as system development, database development, and/or data standardization solutions.

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Ability to analyze and interpret large genetic data sets. Proven experience with GWAS data analysis, including familiarity with tools such as PLINK or BOLT-LMM.
  • Familiarity with pathway-based analyses and polygenic risk scoring Understanding of Mendelian randomization and causal inference methods in genetics preferred
  • Bachelors Degree in bioinformatics, human genetics, computational biology, biostatistics, or a related quantitative field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Master’s degree in related field or equivalent professional experience preferred

 

Special Skills:

  • Strong programming skills in R, Python, or similar languages for statistical analysis and data visualization.
  • Experience working in Unix/Linux environments, including basic shell scripting preferred.
