Where You’ll Work

CHI Mercy Health Valley City, part of CommonSpirit Health, has been a part of the Valley City community since 1928 when it was founded by the Sisters of Mercy. Their vision was to build healthier communities through a healing ministry.  Over the years we’ve progressed to meet the needs of the community. We are always here for you to keep your medical needs close to home and convenient. We are always just down the road and have offered services for decades.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an ER Nurse at CHI Mercy Health Valley City, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll be the first touchpoint to the people in our community during health emergencies.

No two days in emergency nursing are ever the same. You’re a multitasker who can react quickly as you’ll prioritize patients based on their medical necessity while you’re providing emergency triage to others. As part of our ER team, you’ll partner with an experienced clinical team to deliver stabilizing care to our patients by performing IV starts, foley catheter insertions, or aiding providers with chest tube insertions.

To thrive as an ER nurse, you should exhibit teamwork, professionalism, critical thinking skills, and a willingness to take on additional projects such as patient experience initiatives. More than anything, you should be energetic and motivated to provide quality care to all of our patients, maintaining their dignity at every step.

  • Patient-Centered Care & Planning: Assess patient needs, initiate care plans, and provide holistic support, including emotional, psychological, and spiritual care, for patients and their families.
  • Education & Empowerment: Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, and self-care to promote independence.
  • Quality & Safety Compliance: Ensure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, evaluating outcomes, and strictly following all regulatory, infection control, and medication safety protocols.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Resolve patient issues through effective teamwork with multidisciplinary colleagues.

If you are committed to social justice, health equity, and prepared to deliver care in new, innovative ways, you belong with us.
