Responsibilities

The Sterile Processing Supervisor reports directly to the Surgical Support Staff Supervisor. The Sterile Processing Supervisor also manages the daily flow and availability of instruments in the department, communicates directly with the operating room charge nurses for updates, answers the phone, directs the staff, places supply orders and manages repair needs. In addition, the Sterile Processing Supervisor is also responsible to assist in staff scheduling, hiring and disciplinary processes, and in completing staff evaluations. Interpersonal and supervisory skills are required to plan, organize, and direct the activities of assigned staff and to communicate effectively with other departments. Lastly, an excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written, is required, as is proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and G Suite, with the capability of learning new software programs and/or hardware as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in central processing with knowledge of Surgery workflow, procedures, medical terminology and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of infection control and health & safety policies and procedures.
  • BLS-CPR
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist - (CST) preferred.
