  • Assignments will require staff to be a resource nurse between any Surgical Services units within Saint Joseph Hospital
  • All positions are full time
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience is required
  • Eligible hires may be eligible to receive a $25,000 Sign On Bonus and up to $24,000 in Student Loan Pay Off
  • Flat rate of $45.00/hour

Responsibilities

The Surgical Resource RN at CHI Saint Joseph Health will deliver nursing care to patients of varying age groups by utilizing the nursing process and nursing practice standards. The Surgical Resource RN will maintain competency and application of the scientific knowledge necessary to meet patient needs. The Surgical Resource RN will be required to float to different departments within the facility where there is a business need to assist in providing patient care.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Conducts care assessments and interprets assessment data to determine care needs and constraints in meeting these needs.
  2. Successfully completes system-based and hospital specific competencies.
  3. Maintains accurate documentation of observations, treatments, teaching, medications, care given, patient response, and integrates into plan of care.
  4. In collaboration with patients and families (as defined by the patient) the Registered Nurse is responsible for evaluating, planning, directing and administering care to the patient. Implements a plan of care based upon established standards of care/practice, policies, and procedures, incorporating cultural, religious, psychosocial, physical, and age-related issues.
  5. Possesses knowledge of medications, and administers safely and accurately.
  6. Appropriately delegates and supervises routine technical functions to non-licensed and licensed personnel.
  7. In collaboration with the patient/family the RN evaluates patient outcomes and revises the patient’s plan of care.
  8. Negotiates with the patient/family and health care team members to come to an acceptable resolution of conflicts resulting from patient care or organizational issues.
  9. Demonstrates an appreciation of the hospital mission as a teaching institution by acting as a resource for employees, students, and residents.
  10. Is supportive of patient and family centered care, promoting that environment within the care provided. Includes family and patient in plan of care, providing teaching and support where needed.
  11. Surgical Resource RN will float to different departments throughout the facility.
  12. Performs other duties assigned by authorized personnel or as required to meet the needs of the facility, and internal and external customers.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited/approved school of nursing.

Required Licensure and Certifications

  • Current Registered Nurse license in Kentucky.
  • BLS via the American Heart Association

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

  • Minimum one year of experience as an RN in an acute care facility.
