Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist may engage in the Practice of Pharmacy, as outlined in Ancillary Utilization Plans (AUPs), in any Virginia Mason location for which they have received training. Including but not limited to Inpatient, Oncology Infusion, OR, Investigational Drug Service, and Pharmacy Purchasing.

 

This position provides technical support under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist which includes: servicing automated dispensing cabinets, pre-packing medications, delivering medications to nursing units, preparing compounded sterile products including hazardous drugs, triaging telephone calls and faxes, and managing the technical duties in the pharmacy to allow the pharmacist to pursue the clinical areas of pharmacy practice and ensure that optimal patient care is provided.

Qualifications

Required:

· A high school diploma or GED

· A Washington State Pharmacy Technician License.

· A National Certification (CPhT)

· A minimum of 3 months full-time relevant experience in sterile compounding (part time experience will be considered as partial credit)

· Must maintain competency validations every 6 months in the position.

· A working knowledge of hospital operations, technologies such as automated dispensing cabinets, Broad based knowledge of USP 797/800 and experience compounding sterile products including hazardous drugs.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills

· Ability to effectively solve problems, strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills

· Ability to use a computer
